Struggling With the Weight of Depression, Trauma, Addictions, or Other Mental Health Symptoms Can Be Debilitating

You may have tried therapy or medications for your symptoms in the past. They might have brought a little relief or perhaps none at all. You’re tired of struggling with mental health issues. It’s exhausting to feel sad, numb, frustrated, angry, or anxious all the time. It feels like a shadow is cast on everything you do. Sometimes you think you’ll never feel better. And, yet, there is a part of you that longs for a more fulfilling life. You want to wake up in the morning feeling refreshed and eager to start your day.

Ketamine Therapy May Be the Solution for Depression and Other Mental Health Issues

Ketamine is a medication that research shows can successfully treat symptoms of depression, PTSD, and even chronic pain. It’s often more effective and faster than other forms of treatment. Ketamine therapy works by regulating the neurotransmitters in your brain. Neurotransmitters carry messages from one nerve cell to another over your entire body. Ketamine therapy is administered by a trained psychiatrist or another medical professional.

Ketamine therapy is safe and known to be effective often when other methods and medications have not been. As a psychiatrist who has trained in several therapy methods, I’m often amazed at the results my clients achieve with ketamine therapy. I incorporate other therapeutic approaches, such as meditation, into ketamine sessions. No two ketamine therapy sessions are the same. Sessions are tailored to your unique needs and goals.

The Benefits of Ketamine Therapy

  • As humans, we naturally resist looking into our problems closely because it’s often difficult and painful. And yet, all therapy requires you to look within if you hope to get better.

  • Ketamine therapy gently loosens your resistance, allowing you to access deeper parts of yourself that need to be healed. This is the key reason why ketamine therapy works so well.

How Ketamine Therapy Works

  • Step 1

If you’re not already a psychotherapy client of mine, we’ll meet for an initial 2–3 sessions to get to know one another. This allows me to learn about your symptoms, their history, and your goals for ketamine treatment.

  • Step 2

Ketamine therapy consists of 4–6 3-hour sessions. We begin each session by discussing how you’re doing and your intention for the session. We’ll also often do a short meditation.

  • Step 3

I administer the medication either intramuscularly or orally. The effects of the drug last 45–90 minutes. During this time, you wear eyeshades and headphones while listening to curated music. I sit with you during this time, making observations, taking notes, and talking with you if you wish. However, you do not need to speak during this time. Some clients are quiet during the entire duration.

  • Step 4

At the end of the session, we’ll spend some time talking about what stood out for you in the session.

Are You a Candidate for Ketamine Therapy?

If you struggle with depression or symptoms of trauma that have not shown improvement with other types of psychotherapy or medication, you may be a candidate for ketamine therapy. There are some mental and physical health conditions where ketamine therapy may be contraindicated. I can assess you for the appropriateness of treatment when you book an appointment with me.
