My Story

Becoming a Psychiatrist

I’ve been interested in psychiatry and psychology since I was young. Later I became fascinated with mental health issues and entered medical school. Once there, my interests expanded to women’s health—eating disorders, prenatal mood disorders, postpartum depression, and menopausal mood changes.

While on my OBGYN rotation in medical school, I spent time talking and really listening to the feelings and experiences of the women I treated. I was told by the attending physician that I spent too much time talking to my patients, so I decided psychiatry was a better fit for me! I started practicing psychiatry in 2005, and I’ve never looked back. I love my work and can’t think of anything more meaningful than helping people reduce their suffering.

  • My top priority is providing exceptionally warm and high-quality care to my patients.

I’ve received awards for my quiet compassion in caring for others and my scholarship and leadership.

The extensive traditional medical and therapy training and my alternative training in mind-body medicine enable me to offer medication management and deep psychotherapy work.

My additional experience in post-medical school enables me to support women regarding hormonal health, focusing on the intersection of hormones and psychologic wellness, specifically regarding pregnancy, postpartum issues, and concerns around menopause.

Possessing extensive experience and training in eating disorders, I’m highly equipped to offer expert, compassionate care in this area.

I also offer clients support and advice on nutrition and mental health, as healthy food can significantly help improve issues such as depression and anxiety.

I’m one of the few psychiatrists trained in and offering Ketamine treatment-resistant depression.

  • Apart from my private practice, I’ve been employed at several institutions, focusing on eating disorders, women’s health, mind-body medicine, general health and wellness, and general psychiatry.

I’m also currently the Medical Director of Willa Wellness, an outpatient eating disorder treatment program.
